When people first begin exploring their spiritual path, one of the most common things I hear is:
“I’m just not intuitive.”
“I can’t meditate because I don’t see anything.”
“I wish I could receive clear messages like you do.”
I used to say the exact same things.
Back when I started this work, I truly believed I didn’t have any intuitive gifts. Everyone around me was talking about seeing spirits or receiving vivid visuals in meditations, and for me, there was…nothing. Just black space. It felt like something was wrong with me. Like maybe I’d missed the spiritual lottery. I truly didn’t believe I had any gifts.
But the truth is:
Everyone has intuitive ability. Every single one of us. It’s not a question of if you’re intuitive—it’s about how your intuition naturally expresses itself.

Intuition Doesn’t Always Show Up the Way You Expect
A lot of us carry heavy expectations about what psychic or intuitive ability “should” look or feel like. We think it’s supposed to be big, dramatic, otherworldly.
In reality, most intuitive messages are subtle. So subtle, we often dismiss them as imagination or coincidence. Or don’t even recognize them at all.
Over time, many of us lose touch with our intuition. We suppress it, discredit it, or feel shame around it. Whether from societal conditioning, past experiences, or messages we've internalized over the years, we start to doubt the very thing that once came so naturally.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been told, “You’re too sensitive.” For a long time, I believed that was a weakness. But the more I tuned in, the more I realized that sensitivity is one of my gifts. It’s my way of reading energy, of deeply feeling and connecting beyond the surface.
That’s why the first thing I focus on with clients is helping them understand their clairs and how their intuition is speaking to them. We each have our own unique intuitive language.
And the magic is in remembering how to tune into it again.
Remembering What’s Already Within
Here are the 6 main psychic senses, also known as the “Clairs.” Each of us has all of them, but they’re each turned up to different degrees.
Think of each one like a dimmer switch: Some may be turned all the way up. Others may be so dim you’re not even aware they’re there. But they are.
Over time, many of us lose touch with these innate senses. We’ve spent years discrediting them, suppressing them, or feeling shame around them. That disconnection can come from so many places, religious conditioning, societal messaging, or even echoes from past life trauma (like being punished or silenced for your gifts).
Maybe you were told to “stop being so sensitive.” Or to stop daydreaming. Maybe you learned to ignore the way your body spoke to you or brushed off that quiet inner knowing. Words like these have power. And over time, they can dim our intuitive senses.
But the good news? They’re never gone. They’re still within you, waiting to be remembered, reawakened, and trusted again.
So, how do you begin to reconnect? How do you know which psychic sense might be your strongest?
Start by exploring the descriptions of the 6 Clairs below. As you read, notice what resonates. Do any of them feel familiar? Have you experienced something like this before, even subtly? Do you feel pulled toward one more than the others?
That pull is your intuition. It’s already speaking to you.
The Clairs

Clairvoyance translates to "clear seeing." It involves receiving visual information, whether through meditative states, vivid dreams, or symbols and colors that present themselves during intuitive moments.
Clairvoyance can show up in different ways. Sometimes it's external, where you might see something in front of you or outside your body. Other times, it’s internal where images appear in your mind’s eye. This is where it’s easy to dismiss what we’re seeing as “just imagination.” But this is exactly when we need to pause and trust what’s coming through.
For me, when I access an individual’s Akashic Records, I often see a unique key to their room. This key symbolizes something about their soul, something about their essence.
Some keys are adorned with dancing shoes, symbolizing someone who expresses themselves through movement. Others might have an anchor, showing a deep connection to water. These visual symbols help me connect with the client’s soul right away, creating a space of trust and understanding as we begin the session.

Clairsentience, or "clear feeling," is the ability to detect and interpret information through physical sensations in the body.
This gift allows us to pick up on energy shifts, emotions, and even the unspoken words of those around us.
During one reading, I felt a strong constriction in my throat, like a heavy weight pressing against it. That sensation told me my client had a blocked throat chakra, a clear sign of unexpressed emotions and suppressed truths. I could barely breathe, physically feeling the weight of what they were holding inside.
But not every clairsentient experience is so intense. A beautiful place to start if you’re clairsentient is learning how your body says “yes” and “no.” Learn more about this in my free ebook.
For me, I feel my “yes” just under my chin, at the top of my throat. My “no” settles deeper in my throat, sinking down toward my heart.
Other examples of clairsentience might be feeling goosebumps or shivers when someone says something that deeply resonates with you or having a strong gut instinct urging you to turn and take a different path.
As I began tuning into myself more deeply, I realized this was one of my strongest clairs. It’s shaped how I move through life and how I guide and teach in my practice.

Claircognizance means “clear knowing.” It’s the ability to have a deep sense of knowing without needing any external validation or logical explanation.
This kind of psychic information often arrives spontaneously. You just know something about a person, situation, or event, even if you don’t know how you know it. It’s a truth that feels undeniable, even when there’s nothing physical to validate it.
In my own practice, I often experience this when working with clients. Sometimes, I’ll suddenly know specific details about them, like whether they were an only child or if their mother had them at a young age, even if they’ve never mentioned it. I once had a strong, unwavering sense that a client had been an unexpected child, which they later confirmed.
Claircognizance is one of the more subtle clairs and can easily be overlooked or confused with other intuitive senses. It requires deep trust in yourself to begin recognizing and honoring it.
For me, this sense pairs beautifully with my clairsentience. When I receive a download or sudden knowing, I’ll tune into my body’s “yes” or “no” signals to help confirm what’s coming through. But now, as I’ve come to trust and embody this sense of knowing more deeply, I no longer need that extra confirmation as I simply recognize the truth when it arrives.

Clairaudience translates to "clear hearing." This ability allows you to detect information through sounds, voices, and sometimes even music that doesn't come through the physical ears.
You might hear subtle guidance in the form of spoken words or experience a ringing in your ears that signals an intuitive “yes.” Some people even hear distinct voices when spirits come through. I’ve heard this often from my medium friends when loved ones visit with messages.
Although clairaudience isn’t my strongest clair, there are moments when it shows up powerfully.
One day, I was feeling deeply frustrated, overwhelmed by the sense that nothing in my life was unfolding fast enough. Out of nowhere, the song Vienna by Elton John began playing clearly in my head, as if I were wearing headphones. The lyrics, especially “Slow down, you’re doin’ fine, you can’t be everything you wanna be before your time,” felt like a direct message from Spirit.
It reminded me to pause, reflect on how far I had come, and give myself space to celebrate my journey so far.

Clairsalience translates to "clear scent." It's the ability to perceive intuitive information through the sense of smell. This can manifest as smelling scents that aren’t physically present, like a loved one’s perfume or the aroma of a specific food.
This sense is commonly experienced during mediumship, where the presence of a spirit is often accompanied by a familiar scent.
I once had a powerful experience with clairsalience during a reading. Late at night, sitting in my bedroom far from the kitchen, I suddenly caught the rich aroma of freshly brewed coffee. It was so vivid, it felt as though I had a steaming cup in my hands. I knew instantly this was a message for the person I was working with as a gentle reminder to slow down and savor their morning rituals, to approach daily life more mindfully.
Some of my clients have had similar experiences during sessions. One described smelling sage so strongly that they were sure I was burning it, yet I wasn’t. Because sage is often used to clear energy, when that scent comes through during a session, I take it as a sign that a deep energetic clearing is happening in the body.
These scents often come quickly and disappear just as fast. So when they do appear, it helps to tune in and notice what they might be trying to communicate. You may need to cross-reference the experience with your other clairs to fully understand the message.

Clairgustance translates to "clear taste". It allows you to receive information through the sense of taste.
Though this is one of the more uncommon clairs, it can be a powerful messenger. You might suddenly taste something distinct, like chocolate, salt water, or metal, without having eaten anything.
This psychic sense often comes through during mediumship or deep intuitive moments, and the flavor can carry symbolic meaning or be tied to a particular memory, person, or energy.
Although I haven’t personally experienced clairgustance, it’s worth noting for those who may have encountered a sudden taste without any external source. It serves as another way our bodies can intuitively connect to the energies or spirits around us.
For example, someone might suddenly taste a metallic taste or blood on their tongue when connecting to a spirit who passed in an accident, offering insight into the experience or emotion that energy is carrying. Others may taste a favorite treat that their loved one used to cook for them.
Just like the other clairs guide us, clairgustance might surprise us with a taste that brings awareness, memory, or deeper understanding.
Which one spoke to you?
I hope this has shown you just how many beautiful ways there are to access the wisdom of the Universe. Each of us carries a unique blend of intuitive gifts, some might be bold and undeniable, others soft whispers waiting to be heard. And while not everyone will walk through this life using all of their psychic senses, we each have the potential to deepen our connection when the time is right.
Whether it’s a quiet gut feeling, a dream you just know means something, or a sudden rush of insight, you are already more connected than you may realize. These extrasensory gifts aren’t reserved for a select few; they’re part of being human. With practice, patience, and trust, they begin to unfold.
So stay curious. Pay attention. And most of all, trust what comes through. Your intuition is a sacred language, and the more you tune in, the more clearly you’ll begin to understand the deeper truths it’s ready to share.
